1) Upgrading to ActiveImage Protector 2018 Update 7

1-1) Upgrading from ActiveImage Protector 3.5

Please make sure that ActiveImage Protector 3.5 is uninstalled before starting installation of ActiveImage Protector 2018 Update 7.
* You are not allowed to upgrade directly from ActiveImage Protector 3.5 to ActiveImage Protector 2018.
* Migration of the schedule settings configured with ActiveImage Protector 3.5 is not supported.
* When a patch program is available, please install and apply the patch.

1-2) Upgrading from ActiveImage Protector 2016/2016 R2

– When using online product key
Set up and upgrade to ActiveImage Protector 2018 Update 7. Migration of the schedule settings configured with ActiveImage Protector 2016/2016 R2 is supported. Windows system restart is needed upon completion of upgrading.

– When using offline product key
As the product key has to be changed, you are not allowed to upgrade directly to ActiveImage Protector 2018 Update 7. You need to uninstall the earlier version and restart Windows system. Then install ActiveImage Protector 2018 Update 7.
* When a patch program is available, please install and apply the patch.

1-3) Upgrading from an earlier version of ActiveImage Protector 2018

In the environment where the earlier version of ActiveImage Protector 2018 is installed, please upgrade to ActiveImage Protector 2018 Update 7.
Migration of the schedule settings configured with the earlier version is supported. Windows system restart is needed upon completion of upgrading.
* When a patch program is available, please install and apply the patch.

1-4) When Installing patch program for ActiveImage Protector 2018 Update 7 only

Run the installer of the patch program in the environment where ActiveImage Protector 2018 Update 7 is installed.
Windows system restart is not required.

2) When upgrading to ActiveImage Protector 2022

When upgrading from ActiveImage Protector 2018 Update 6 or earlier, you are not allowed to upgrade directly to ActiveImage Protector 2022. Please make sure the earlier version is uninstalled. Then, Restart the Windows system and install the ActiveImage Protector 2022 by using the product key for ActiveImage Protector 2022.
* Migration of the schedule settings configured with ActiveImage Protector 3.5 is not supported.
* *The schedule settings configured by using ActiveImage Protector 2016/2018 are migrated to ActiveImage Protector 2022. However, due to the change of incremental backup technology, the migrated schedule settings configured for incremental backup tasks do not normally behave. Please reconfigure the schedule settings again.

When upgrading from ActiveImage Protector 2018 Update 7, please uninstall the earlier version. By default, the schedule settings will be migrated. Set up and install ActiveImage Protector 2022 by using the product key for ActiveImage Protector 2022. Windows system restart is not required after upgrading ActiveImage Protector.

You can set up ActiveImage Protector 2022 without uninstalling ActiveImage Protector 2018 Update 7, you may encounter the following problems. You are recommended to uninstall ActiveImage Protector 2018 Update 7 before setting up ActiveImage Protector 2022.

Symptom (under unknown conditions)
・Although a valid product key is entered in ActiveImage Protector 2022 install wizard, you get “This installer does not accept the entered product key” message and installation fails.

・In the installation process, “Uninstall NSIS Aip failed: “The file is not found [OK]” message is shown and the installation process is discontinued.
* After you get the problem, when uninstallation of ActiveImage Protector 2018 fails by selecting [Uninstall a program], please download the uninstaller from the following site and decompress the file on desktop, etc., double-click “uninstaller.exe” and uninstall the program.
